The little Mountain God had waited for a long time, but Jiang Feng never came to find him on his own initiative. When he heard that Jiang Feng had returned to the mortal world again, he packed his things and set off by himself.

He took public transportation by himself, but ended up forgetting to bring money. When he searched his pockets and couldn’t find any, he pitifully apologized to people.

“I have money at home. My dad is over there, I’ll go find him to pay you.”

The driver didn’t care about a dollar or two, but he was worried that the child was lost, so he called the police.

The little Mountain God wanted to get off near A University. Now that school was on vacation, there were much fewer people. But there were still residential areas and commercial streets nearby, so the usual foot traffic could be guaranteed.

The passengers on the bus were waiting, and the driver still had to continue driving. Seeing that the little Mountain God looked very clever and obedient, he let him off at the corresponding stop, made him stand by the roadside where there was more pedestrian traffic, and told him not to move around and wait for the police to come and take him home.

Still feeling uneasy, the driver found a rope, tied several dead knots around his waist, and bound him to the bus stop sign.

The driver stood opposite him and reconsidered the whole situation.

The police station took cases of missing children quite seriously, and their response time was very fast. Calculating from when he made the phone call, they should arrive in less than five minutes.

Perfect.

So the driver left with peace of mind.

The little Mountain God waved at the vehicle. After both the people and the car disappeared from his sight, he hooked his hand against the dead knots and easily cut through them.

He didn’t need police officers – he was already a mature Mountain God!

He just didn’t want to hurt simple, kind-hearted people.

Many of the shops near the university town had changed names again. He could smell tempting food aromas every few steps.

He took a deep breath, swallowed his saliva, and decided that when he saw Jiang Feng later, he would tell him he wanted to eat this and that. If Jiang Feng didn’t agree, he would let him know that he could cry too!

The little Mountain God skipped in small steps toward Jiang Feng’s former home, when suddenly his gaze stopped.

He saw two half-grown children walking toward a relatively secluded place.

This street faced toward the school, so even during holidays there were quite a few people. But the back side was different.

The little Mountain God glanced over, couldn’t help but glance a second time, and confirmed he wasn’t mistaken. That girl had a trace of lingering ominous energy around her. This was obviously unusual.

He turned his head and looked around, opened his mouth as if to call for help, but didn’t know whose help he should seek. Those two children were about to disappear from sight.

Without time to think further, the little Mountain God followed directly.

“Don’t go with her!” The little Mountain God ran over and shouted, “Dangerous!”

The two stopped and turned their heads to look at him together.

The boy was only about five or six years old, with a candy in his mouth. His chubby face looked plump and cute, and a pair of bright eyes looked at him spiritedly.

He asked, “Are you talking to me?”

“Yes!”

The little Mountain God went over and pulled his hand, bringing him behind himself, then glared at the girl.

The girl looked somewhat embarrassed and also a bit afraid, seeking confirmation. “Didn’t you promise me?!”

The boy thought for a moment and nodded. “Right, I promised her.”

The little Mountain God turned back and asked, “Do you know her?”

“If we talk, don’t we know each other?”

The little Mountain God seriously warned. “Don’t talk to strangers.”

“She’s just a little kid!” the boy retorted. “Mom told me not to bully little kids!”

“I’m not bullying her, I’m protecting you!” the little Mountain God said earnestly. “Don’t go with her!”

The little boy said righteously, “Why? She needs help. Mom said we should help other little kids!”

The little Mountain God turned to ask the girl. “What do you want him to help you with?”

The girl breathed heavily, looking very frightened, but didn’t dare to speak.

The boy said, “She wants me to take her home, pretending to be her classmate. Because she’s afraid her mom will hit her.”

“She’s a liar.” The little Mountain God glanced at the girl and said loudly: “She’s a bad person!”

The little boy got a bit angry. “You can’t say that about others!”

The two were about to start arguing when the little Mountain God’s fierce aura was alarmingly intense. He wanted to directly pull the child out to find adults, but two men who had been secretly watching them suddenly rushed up – one grabbed the boy, the other scooped up the little Mountain God.

The girl held her head and screamed in terror.

A bald man shouted. “Shut up!”

The girl fearfully stifled her voice and followed behind him, her legs trembling slightly.

“You see!” The little Mountain God slapped the boy’s hand, knocking his candy away. “I told you so!”

The boy was confused and hadn’t reacted at all.

“They’re selling children!” the little Mountain God immediately shouted loudly. “Help! Someone’s trying to sell children!”

The guy holding him immediately covered his mouth.

Someone outside seemed to have noticed and came closer to peer inside.

“Haha, kids being naughty.” The bald man said while pinching the little Mountain God, loudly saying, “If you keep talking nonsense like this, I’ll beat you when we get home, you hear? Just because I won’t give you candy! I told you the car would be here soon and you’re still yelling!”

The other man had a more sinister expression, with bangs covering half his face and an extremely thin build. He pressed the boy’s head forcefully against his chest, and after a moment, the boy fell unconscious.

The passersby just watched from afar, showing some hesitation and doubt on their faces, but didn’t approach for the moment.

Almost simultaneously, a small van with three rows of seats came from the other direction and stopped in front of them.

Several people quickly stuffed the three children into the back seat.

Without hesitation, they started the vehicle!

The driver wore a mask and glanced in the rearview mirror, cursing, “Damn! How did this happen so far out? Are there surveillance cameras here?”

“Stop talking.” The bald man turned and slapped the girl in the back seat. “Can’t even handle such a small thing properly!”

The girl suppressed her voice but kept sobbing, curling up into a ball and huddling next to the boy, as if this could give her a sense of security, forgetting that she had just deceived him.

The little Mountain God kicked hard at the seat in front, glaring angrily at them.

Everyone turned their gaze toward the back seat.

The driver exclaimed. “How did we end up with an extra one? Where did he come from?”

Baldy: “How is he still not asleep?”

The man with bangs applied more force, also very surprised. “I don’t know either, he’s just particularly alert. Could the drug not work on him?”

Baldy said, “Press harder, is he holding his breath?”

“Damn! If that doesn’t work, just knock him out!”

The little Mountain God frowned, his brain working furiously.

He was certain this was a professional child trafficking gang. He had now miraculously infiltrated the enemy’s ranks, so defeating them was practically guaranteed.

He recalled the stories he had heard and Jiang Feng’s various methods.

Everyone’s gratitude, police commendations, Taoist priests’ admiration…

The flame of justice in his heart immediately burned fiercely.

He too wanted to be a great figure!

First, he had to… make himself fall asleep so they wouldn’t become suspicious.

Thinking of this, the little Mountain God simply tilted his head and finally cooperatively collapsed.

All the traffickers were stunned.

The gloomy man removed his hand and pushed him in bewilderment.

No response.

Baldy asked, “What’s the situation?”

The gloomy man said, “Maybe because he’s rather slow, so his nerves transmit more slowly?”

The little Mountain God: “…”

He was angry!

The gloomy man, still uneasy, covered his mouth for a while longer before finally letting go.

Their car drove for over two hours. The little Mountain God didn’t know what route they took, but he heard several identical advertisements, guessing they were probably circling around in the city.

Then it gradually became quiet around them – they should have left the city.

When they finally stopped, it was already getting dark.

His body felt lighter as someone picked him up.

Street lights came on, and beneath his feet was a bumpy dirt road – they should have arrived at a relatively remote suburb.

Soon after, the boy with them slowly woke up. The little Mountain God felt it was about time and also opened his eyes.

All the children were locked in a cramped room. The little Mountain God looked around and found there were twelve people.

Seeing them suddenly appear, the children in the room had no reaction. They were dressed in dirty clothes and looked numb.

The youngest were only three or four years old, lying in the corner crying softly, but even their crying had no strength – they should be very unhealthy. The older children should be seven or eight years old, sitting against the wall with their heads down, not saying a word.

The little Mountain God walked to the window to scout the situation.

Their room was in the middle section, outside was a small vegetable garden they had fenced themselves, and iron bars were welded to the window.

No other houses could be seen nearby for now.

This gang had quite a few people.

Besides the three adult men who went out today to handle the kidnapping, there were at least five more people staying here to guard.

Two middle-aged women, one man close to sixty, and the rest were all strong men.

The little Mountain God heard them calling each other “Dad,” “Sister-in-law,” “Brother,” and such. Just like a normal family living together.

The little Mountain God finished his reconnaissance, nodded seriously, and came back to sit next to his friend.

The boy had been completely scared senseless, hugging his arms and shrinking into the corner. The little Mountain God was about to touch him when the door was opened. Someone came in and viciously shouted. “Eat!”

He hadn’t reacted yet, but the children around him had already rushed out in a group.

Eating was next door, in an empty room with a large wooden table in the middle.

Adults and children didn’t eat together, and they ate different things. The adults sat at the table while the women prepared several small dishes and alcohol and meat.

The children didn’t approach but stood in another small corner.

Baldy brought over a basin and put it on the ground, then carried over what looked like a greasy, blackened wooden bucket, pouring the porridge inside into the basin. He knocked the basin with an iron spoon and casually said, “Eat!”

Everyone went to the door to get dirty iron bowls, ladled some porridge, then squatted on the ground to eat dinner.

Each one wolfed it down – they looked truly starved.

The little Mountain God tentatively walked over.

Inside was mostly rice water, with the rice grains all cooked to mush, only a little bit at the bottom. It looked more like leftover rice made into porridge.

Several people quickly finished drinking and came to pour a second bowl.

The little Mountain God dodged aside and also went to get a bowl. When he came back, the basin was basically empty. He held up the basin and poured out a pitiful half bowl of porridge.

He held the bowl and pouted pitifully.

Today three more people had been added, but this group didn’t seem to have cooked extra food.

The little Mountain God sighed maturely, carried it over and placed it in front of the boy, licking his lips and saying, “You eat.”

“I won’t eat.” The boy said with tears welling up in his eyes. “I want to go home.”

The little Mountain God: “You have to eat. I’ll take you home.”

The boy: “You’re lying.”

The little Mountain God said unhappily, “I tell you the truth and you always say I’m lying!”

A little boy walked over to them and said, “If you won’t drink it, I’ll drink it. I’m still hungry.”
