IMGH Chapter 11
by syl_beeFrom Now On, I’ll Take Care of You
Jiang Yi walked out of the bedroom and saw Qiu Rui curled up by the floor-to-ceiling window, thick layers of sorrow intertwining and wrapping around his slender figure.
Jiang Yi’s heart also ached slightly in response. He walked over wanting to comfort Qiu Rui but found himself at a loss for words.
After a long while, Jiang Yi finally stammered, “You… don’t worry! Even if you can’t go back, I’ll still take care of you! How can those people who keep pets be as fashionable as me? Raising a ghost—how awesome would that sound!”
“Idiot!” Qiu Rui raised his head and glared fiercely at Jiang Yi.
Jiang Yi sheepishly fell silent, defending himself somewhat aggrievedly, “I was just trying to comfort you, wasn’t I?”
Qiu Rui floated past him. Unable to bear being ignored, Jiang Yi couldn’t help but call out.
“Hey, where are you going?”
“Staying under the same roof with a brain-dead person like you will only lower my standards. I’m going to the balcony to get some air!” Qiu Rui made no effort to hide his disdain for Jiang Yi, coldly dropping this line before floating toward the balcony.
“Hey, can you be in sunlight? Don’t ghosts usually can’t be in the sun? Do you need me to find something to shield you?”
Still being ignored, Jiang Yi clearly had no self-awareness. He shouted at Qiu Rui’s retreating figure, “Hey, Qiu Rui, the sun is really strong today, don’t get yourself burned!”
“Jiang… Yi…” Qiu Rui’s angry and embarrassed voice came from the balcony. Still muttering to himself, Jiang Yi suddenly jolted, thinking Qiu Rui had really been reduced to ashes by the sun, and immediately rushed toward the balcony.
Jiang Yi anxiously looked Qiu Rui up and down. Seeing that he was completely unharmed, though his handsome face was covered in frost, Jiang Yi wondered what he had done to offend this young master again. He asked, “What’s wrong?”
“What kind of broken formation is this? Wasn’t it supposed to just trap me in your place? Why does it also restrict my freedom?”
Qiu Rui was furious, his words grinding out through clenched teeth.
Jiang Yi looked at him blankly, “You… what do you mean?”
Jiang Yi complained bitterly, “What’s going on? At least let me die knowing why!”
“I can’t reach the balcony. I’ve tried many times, but I keep getting forced back by bursts of red light. It seems my range of movement is only about five meters.” Qiu Rui gestured the distance with his hands as he spoke to Jiang Yi.
“How could this be?” Jiang Yi was shocked, but then he sensed something was off. “Qiu Rui, that’s not right. Just now you went from the bedroom to the floor-to-ceiling window in the living room—that distance is definitely more than five meters.”
Qiu Rui was also full of confusion, “What’s going on?”
“Should we try again?” Jiang Yi suggested.
Qiu Rui nodded and floated toward the balcony. Sure enough, as he said, when he was about to approach the balcony’s sliding door, he was forced back by red light. Qiu Rui retreated a few steps, and the red light silently withdrew.
Jiang Yi said, “Try a few more places.”
Qiu Rui tried several other locations, and his range of movement was indeed only within five meters. Once he exceeded that range, he would be blocked by a barrier drawn by red light.
Qiu Rui glared at Jiang Yi furiously, “Not only are you terrible, you’re also ignorant! Setting up this kind of formation that harms the innocent—don’t you feel guilty? It’s people like you who lower the quality of the nation!”
Knowing he was in the wrong, Jiang Yi sidled up to Qiu Rui and said with an ingratiating smile, “It’s my fault. I’m already trying my best to fix it. Please don’t be angry!”
Qiu Rui snorted coldly, turned his head, and continued to sulk.
Qiu Rui had a tall, slender build, and after becoming a ghost, his figure appeared even more ethereal and graceful. Combined with his cold, frosty expression, he resembled a celestial being from beyond, noble and untainted by even a speck of worldly dust.
In his thirty years of life, Jiang Yi had never seen such extraordinary beauty. The reclusive man’s long-suppressed heart stirred like a spring breeze, and he couldn’t help but stare wide-eyed.
Qiu Rui felt the burning gaze being cast upon him from behind. When he turned around, he saw Jiang Yi staring at him without blinking. He had seen this kind of look plenty of times in the eyes of the female employees at his company, but the girls’ gazes were more reserved and shy, while Jiang Yi’s gaze was naked and unabashed.
Normally, Qiu Rui would automatically filter out these gazes that he found boring, but today Jiang Yi’s stare hit a nerve.
Qiu Rui forcibly suppressed the urge to punch this idiotic man flat and coldly snapped, “Have you looked enough? Idiot!”
Jiang Yi also realized his behavior was too impolite and sheepishly withdrew his gaze. But having been scolded like that by Qiu Rui, he felt somewhat aggrieved and defended himself, “Looking a couple of times won’t make you lose a piece of flesh. You’re really petty!”
Qiu Rui had never in his life seen someone with such thick skin. He widened his eyes, so angry that his voice even trembled slightly, “You’re shameless!”
