IMGH Chapter 14
by syl_beeSharing a Room
Jiang Yi snapped back to his senses, feeling somewhat puzzled by his subconscious action just moments ago. He quickly handed the bowl and chopsticks in his hand to Qiu Rui to cover up his embarrassment. “Here, eat!”
Qiu Rui rolled his eyes. “Are you an idiot? How can I hold them?”
Only then did Jiang Yi remember that Qiu Rui couldn’t touch any physical objects.
“You can’t hold them, yet you still asked me to get you the bowl and chopsticks.”
“I meant for you to pick out the food and put it in the bowl for me. Also, use clean chopsticks to pick up the food.”
Seeing the disgusted expression on Qiu Rui’s face, Jiang Yi knew he was finding him dirty. While placing the food into the bowl in front of Qiu Rui as instructed, he muttered with dissatisfaction, “You think I’m dirty, but every dish you’re eating has been handled by me. I made all these dishes—if you think they’re dirty, then don’t eat them!”
“What are you muttering about? Don’t you know? Experts have discovered that talking while eating can easily cause cancer.” Qiu Rui extended his pale fingers to pinch the food in the bowl.
Jiang Yi saw that the food in the bowl remained unmoved, but the ethereal projection floating from the dish was successfully picked up by Qiu Rui and placed into his mouth.
Qiu Rui chewed carefully, his cheeks moving slightly with a very refined and elegant eating manner. At the end, he didn’t forget to extend his pink tongue to lick away the sauce that had gotten on his lips.
As Jiang Yi watched, he suddenly felt his mouth go dry, picked up the water glass on the table and gulped it down.
Qiu Rui looked at him strangely. “The food isn’t salty—why are you drinking so much water?”
Jiang Yi stammered. “No… I’m thirsty! Eat, eat!”
This person was not only an idiot but also strange. Attracted by the delicious food, Qiu Rui no longer had time to pay attention to Jiang Yi’s odd behavior and ate heartily.
“Jiang Yi, I want to eat this stuffed eggplant, and also this…”
Qiu Rui waved his fingers, eating until his mouth was dripping with oil, while not forgetting to direct Jiang Yi to serve him food.
After Jiang Yi finished serving Qiu Rui and prepared to eat, he discovered that the full spread of four dishes and one soup had already been half devoured by Qiu Rui. Looking at the food in Qiu Rui’s bowl that remained completely untouched, he asked in puzzlement. “What did you eat? Isn’t the food still here?”
Qiu Rui was obviously in a very good mood and said with a smile. “What I ate was the essence of the food.”
Jiang Yi marveled secretly—so this was how ghosts ate!
After eating and drinking his fill, Qiu Rui leaned back comfortably on the sofa with a satisfied expression on his face, squinting his eyes as he watched television.
Jiang Yi washed the dishes and chopsticks in the kitchen, then cut some fruit and brought it out.
One person and one ghost coexisted peacefully, sitting in front of the television and occasionally commenting on the programs.
In the afternoon, Jiang Yi worked on his writing while Qiu Rui occupied himself with passing the time. After dinner, Jiang Yi began considering the sleeping arrangements for the night.
His home had a one-bedroom, two-living-room layout with only one bedroom. Jiang Yi’s principle of hospitality was never to make guests uncomfortable, much less now that Qiu Rui was his pet—as the owner, he had the obligation to take care of his own pet.
Carrying his laptop and bedding out to place on the sofa, Jiang Yi said to Qiu Rui, “Rui’er, there’s only one bedroom at home. I’ll sleep on the sofa tonight, and you sleep on the bed.”
Whether he had already gotten used to this form of address or was simply too tired to correct it anymore, Qiu Rui surprisingly didn’t voice any objection this time, only saying indifferently. “Then I’ll trouble you!”
Jiang Yi pursed his lips—he really wasn’t being polite at all!
Qiu Rui floated into Jiang Yi’s bedroom and looked at the newly changed bedding and pillows on the bed, nodding with satisfaction.
Although this person was somewhat of an idiot, he was quite considerate.
The faint scent of sunshine mixed with lavender laundry detergent emanating from the bedding gradually soothed Qiu Rui’s irritable heart. He half-reclined on the bed and gradually relaxed his somewhat tense thoughts, closing his eyes as he drifted off to sleep.
Having finished his writing, Jiang Yi pushed open the half-closed bedroom door and looked at Qiu Rui’s peaceful face on the bed. Only after a long while did he close the door and retreat back to the living room.
