The Secret Guide to Chasing a Husband

Under his mother’s oppressive gaze, Jiang Yi picked up his bowl, thinking inwardly that he had never eaten anyone’s leftovers before.

But when it was his Rui’er’s leftovers, he didn’t mind at all.

Jiang Yi picked up a stalk of celery with stars practically sparkling in his eyes. This was a vegetable that his Rui’er’s fingers had intimately touched!

It carries his Rui’er’s breath — who knows, maybe even a little bit of his saliva?

Ying ying ying, does this count as an indirect kiss?

Jiang Yi was completely lost in his fantasies.

What has gotten into my son? How can eating a vegetable make him look this blissful?

Why is my big bro smiling like such a creep? He’s not over there fantasizing about a man, is he?

Xiao Wenya and Jiang Mingxuan stared at the man across the table wearing that unspeakable smile on his face, and exchanged glances.

Xiao Wenya couldn’t hold back any longer and spoke up to interrupt. “I say, son, what are you smiling about? Why aren’t you eating?”

Jiang Yi snapped back to his senses and lowered his head to eat, his heart brimming with rosy pink bubbles of happiness.

The vegetable in his mouth was bland and tasteless — none of the five flavors from seasoning, nor even the natural taste of the vegetable itself. It was like a glass of plain boiled water, utterly devoid of any flavor.

Jiang Yi ate with a deepening frown. So Rui’er had absorbed all the good stuff and left him with nothing but scraps.

But since it was something his Rui’er had eaten, even a pile of scraps tasted like the finest delicacies.

Jiang Yi’s eyes welled up, and it took him quite a long while to finish his meal.

    …..

On the way home, Jiang Yi received a call from Han Yuancheng requesting a meeting — they were to meet the following morning at the café on the ground floor of Guomao Mansion.

After returning home, Qiu Rui stood by the floor-to-ceiling window for a long time, lost in thought.

Since Han Yuancheng had called to arrange a meeting with Jiang Yi, it meant that Qiu Chen had not yet lost his mind to the point of going after him. It also indicated that Jiang Yi was very likely unaware of the situation — if Jiang Yi had been Qiu Chen’s accomplice, he would certainly have prevented the two of them from meeting.

With Jiang Yi’s suspicion now cleared, Qiu Rui quietly breathed a sigh of relief.

Qiu Rui felt that Jiang Yi wasn’t bad at heart — he was just disagreeable, unreliable, prone to acting lovestruck around him, and fond of saying inexplicable things.

The image of Jiang Yi’s burning gaze surfaced in his mind, sending a faint tingling sensation through Qiu Rui’s heart. A flush of color crept across his fair face. He shook his head and forcefully banished the man’s figure from his thoughts, muttering under his breath with a light spit of contempt. “Idiot. Shameless.”

Jiang Yi’s gaze had never left Qiu Rui. He watched as the normally composed expression on Qiu Rui’s face shifted into something that looked like embarrassed indignation. Qiu Rui’s lips moved slightly, but the distance was too great for Jiang Yi to make out the words. He asked in puzzlement, “Rui’er, what did you say?”

Qiu Rui had a bellyful of simmering frustration with nowhere to direct it. Now that Jiang Yi had walked right into the line of fire, he couldn’t stop himself from erupting. “How many times have I told you — call me by my name. Who gave you the right to call me ‘Rui’er’? Are we really that close?”

Qiu Rui was usually cold and aloof, and it was rare for Jiang Yi to see him lose his temper.

Today’s Rui’er is so terrifying — but I like it!

Chasing a husband requires three things: first, no fear of hardship; second, no fear of death; third, no sense of shame.

Now that Jiang Yi had set his sights on Qiu Rui, he was determined to win him over, no matter how Rui’er treated him. He would press forward through every obstacle.

A man has to be hard on himself.

With that thought, Jiang Yi broke into a wide, enthusiastic smile directed at Qiu Rui: “Rui’er, if we’re not close now, we will be eventually!”

“Eventually? There is no eventually! Once all this is over, I never want to see you again for the rest of my life!”

“Rui’er, I’m afraid you’ll be stuck with me for quite some time. Heaven’s will is supreme — what it arranges, I’m powerless to change!” Jiang Yi shrugged, wearing an air of helpless resignation while grinning a smile that was absolutely begging to be slapped.

Qiu Rui ground his teeth. “If it weren’t for the formation you set up, would I even be trapped here? You idiotic troublemaker — your very existence is a waste of oxygen!”

“Rui’er, there’s no need to curse your own husband like that!”

“Say that one more time if you dare!”

The terrifying expression on Qiu Rui’s face made Jiang Yi sheepishly fall silent. He pursed his lips with an air of infinite grievance. “You’re bullying me!”
