IMGH Chapter 72
by syl_beeThe Sinister Soul-Departure Talisman
Qiu Rui listened and glared with displeasure. “Jiang Yi, have you lost your mind!”
“Han Yuancheng must have something to say to you!”
“That’s still not acceptable. Possession causes great harm to your body!”
“But…”
“If there’s something to convey, talk to him and pass it to me!” Qiu Rui cut Jiang Yi off with a sharp, no-nonsense voice.
Seeing Qiu Rui so concerned about him, Jiang Yi felt a warmth spreading in his heart. He leaned close to Qiu Rui’s side and smiled ambiguously. “Rui’er, you treat me so well! What am I to do — I love you so much. How about I offer myself to you?”
“Get lost!” Qiu Rui shot Jiang Yi a cold, haughty glare and drifted away from his side.
Left behind in solitude, Jiang Yi wore an expression of total defeat. Such a moving declaration of love, and it had failed to produce the desired effect.
His Rui’er was unlike ordinary people — conventional methods simply wouldn’t be enough to fully win him over.
It seemed he would have to resort to his trump card…
A wicked, devious smile spread across Jiang Yi’s face.
Chen Yuhe stared at Jiang Yi standing beside her, his expression thoroughly indecent, and felt a wave of revulsion.
He really was shameless beyond measure. Her BOSS was sooner or later going to be broken down by Jiang Yi’s thick skin.
Jiang Yi snapped out of his daydream and noticed Chen Yuhe staring at him. He rubbed his nose awkwardly. “Yuhe, something the matter?”
Chen Yuhe shook her head and sighed with exaggerated pity. “How could my BOSS — such an exceptional man — ever take a fancy to someone like you!” Her gaze swept up and down Jiang Yi, finding not a single trace of charm. “Tsk, tsk, tsk. No matter how you look at it, you’re just a broke nobody. And yet even someone like you can turn the tables and win over a rich, handsome top-tier man — I suppose that means even I could marry into wealth and live like a lady of leisure!”
“Exactly — if even a humble cowherd can reverse his fate and marry a fairy, why can’t I, Jiang Yi, win Qiu Rui?”
Chen Yuhe was left with nothing to say. When she thought it over carefully, she found that what Jiang Yi said was actually quite reasonable.
Jiang Yi raised his eyebrows smugly. “Yuhe, the only question is whether you dare — not whether you can succeed! As long as you put in the effort, success becomes possible!”
Chen Yuhe curled her lip dismissively. “You just got lucky. What if Chairman Qiu didn’t like you?”
“That won’t happen. He will definitely come to like me, and I will definitely make him like me.” Jiang Yi gazed toward the rolling mountain ranges in the distance, his voice drifting, yet sounding strangely resolute.
Chen Yuhe had been worrying about Jiang Yi’s fate chart lately. She had calculated it many times, switching between various divination methods, yet every reading produced the same result.
Her intuition told her something bad was coming. A shadow of worry settled across Chen Yuhe’s brow.
“Yuhe, do you still have any of those Soul-Departure Talismans? Get me a few more!” Jiang Yi rubbed his palms together excitedly, his smile oozing with a sleazy, suggestive air.
Chen Yuhe rolled her eyes. It seemed her worrying had been entirely unnecessary — looking at Jiang Yi like this, what could possibly go wrong with him. “Didn’t I already give you three? And you’ve used them all up!” She shot Jiang Yi an irritated glare.
“The time limit on your Soul-Departure Talismans is too short. There’s absolutely nothing one can do in such little time!”
Jiang Yi brooded with frustration. Last time, when he had almost gotten to devour his dear Rui’er, it was all because that Soul-Departure Talisman hadn’t held up.
If only the duration had been a little longer, he could have pushed Rui’er down, and pushed him down, and pushed him down again.
Heh heh…
Jiang Yi fell into another daydream. Chen Yuhe stared at the man beside her with his indecent grin, and her body gave an involuntary shudder.
Getting no response from Chen Yuhe for some time, Jiang Yi came to his senses. “Yuhe, can you or can you not extend the duration of the Soul-Departure Talisman?”
“What are you planning to do?” Chen Yuhe regarded Jiang Yi with guarded suspicion, baring her teeth. “Are you plotting something against my BOSS?”
“Since when did you become so devoted? Besides, after using a Soul-Departure Talisman, I’m nothing but a wisp of a wandering soul — what could I even do in that state!” What exactly he could do was naturally something he couldn’t tell Chen Yuhe. Jiang Yi blinked with a look of total innocence at the wary woman before him.
“Hmph. You think I don’t know what schemes you’re cooking up, you scoundrel!” Chen Yuhe fixed a cold stare on Jiang Yi. Just by looking at his expression, she knew he had no good intentions. As a loyal employee dedicated to defending her BOSS, she absolutely refused to bow to this nefarious force.
Seeing Chen Yuhe so difficult to deal with, Jiang Yi countered in a cool voice. “We’re a couple. What’s wrong with a couple doing what couples are supposed to do?”
Chen Yuhe was unmoved, her tone firm. “You’re taking advantage of the situation and acting like a scoundrel. I am not giving you any more Soul-Departure Talismans!”
“Yuhe, how can you be so heartless!” Jiang Yi’s face fell, his expression instantly turning pitiful and aggrieved. “The formation hasn’t been broken yet, which means Rui’er doesn’t truly like me yet. I only wanted to use the Soul-Departure Talisman so that we could come to understand each other on a deeper level. I believe that once we do, Rui’er will truly fall in love with me. After all these years, do you still not understand how sincere my feelings for Qiu Rui are? Yuhe, please just help me.”
