TOMWDET Chapter 206
by syl_beeCapturing the [Spirit]
The elements in Su Li’s hand reformed into a blade.
This was a real battle.
Therefore, in any action intended to send Clemens to his death, there could be no pretense. Instead, it had to deceive the [Spirit] and even fool the entire world through natural progression.
Su Li swung his blade forward. Behind him, elements formed chains; in front of him was Clemens, who had transformed into a [Tiger]; behind him was a large group of other humans who finally felt a sense of crisis.
This was the default.
Under the previous rules, the default had formed a one-on-one situation, but once the [Tiger] appeared, the other humans likewise became Clemens’s targets.
Su Li had to protect the other humans while trying his best to kill the opponent before him. At the same time, he had to constantly watch for the [Spirit] hidden behind the scenes, observing this battle.
He could feel it——
Su Li had to admit that he was somewhat the type of person who bounced back from rock bottom.
Back in his 007 days, that kind of pressure that could drive people insane would only transform into unstoppable momentum once Su Li entered his state.
Su Li moved.
His calves instantly tensed, and his extreme speed running left afterimages in place.
The [Tiger], his target, could only hastily raise his claws to block Su Li, who had been dozens of meters away just moments before.
The wind element gave Su Li extremely superior environmental sensing ability. Light and water elements could become Su Li’s disguise at any time. Fire element became the weapon in Su Li’s hand, and the dark element, the same as Clemens possessed, silently mixed into the area around his body.
The [Tiger] could not detect the changes in dark elements within the elemental light bands, just as after Su Li launched his fierce attack, he could only choose to dodge and was unable to counterattack.
Thinking speed, physical agility, reaction ability—everything was enhanced to an almost inhuman level.
Watching Clemens being constantly suppressed in the fight, if not for still being wary of his ability to merge with darkness, the current Su Li was confident enough that the [Tiger] could not survive under his offensive for more than three minutes.
He heard Clemens saying: “What I’ve always wanted is for darkness to submerge the earth. If you think I’m only trying to kill you, then you’re gravely mistaken.”
Su Li was stunned for a moment, as if he hadn’t reacted.
The next second, Clemens, who had been confronting Su Li, directly disappeared from his original position…
In the darkness, there seemed to be a negligible flash of light element.
Su Li noticed nothing at all.
He only saw Clemens aiming at the other humans!
When Su Li realized what was happening, numerous screams rang out in succession.
Su Li saw Egbert’s figure spitting blood and flying backward in an instant, and also heard the uncontrolled roar from Cyril’s mouth. The mermaid was roaring, “So what if you’re the strongest? With so many of us, how could we possibly not kill you!”
Su Li: ……
Su Li should have remained silent.
Because Su Li had never thought the mermaid’s acting could be this poor.
That’s right, this was a play that didn’t look exciting at all.
During the day, Clemens could choose to bravely fight Su Li one-on-one, but only at night could he be everywhere.
So at night, having gained the advantage, he chose to direct his attacks at the other humans.
And Su Li had to forcibly act as if he couldn’t catch up…
Half a day’s time was enough for Su Li to figure out the dark element’s ability to dissolve into darkness.
Clemens likewise understood that the night was no longer his exclusive advantage.
He anticipated, he was excited, he eagerly embraced death, but he also knew that the [Spirit] would not let him die at the hands of humans.
Only if the [Tiger] was devoured alive could the [Spirit] achieve the growth it desired.
But the death he wanted, although it meant being killed by others, was definitely not so cruel as to experience having his bones, fur, blood, consciousness, and everything else completely devoured in terror.
Therefore, as the person who would fulfill his wish, the [Tiger] planned to cooperate with Su Li before dying.
The humans retreated in large numbers. Roy controlled ice elements, forming a layer on the ground that wasn’t thick but had an unimaginably low temperature.
Su Li covered it with water elements. Clemens’s figure landing on the ground was only restricted in movement for 0.5 seconds.
The two-star mercenary with superb acting skills shouted, “This won’t work! We need to use all our power, going all out to restrain him. Only then can the little master ensure he kills him.”
“Let me do it.” Euphia stepped forward. Fire elements formed numerous slender fire snakes, intending to coil around Clemens’s body and cover him.
The other humans also moved accordingly. Egbert aimed at Clemens’s eyes.
Just like the method of using dark elements, as long as overly dense elements covered the opponent’s eyes and ensured the opponent couldn’t dispel them, then the opponent’s field of vision would no longer be under their own control.
Targeting both eyes, Egbert might not be able to do it alone, but he would choose to pull Diz along and request Lan Zhe to unite with the Raven. With the power of four, they would completely block the [Tiger]’s sight.
The dark elements Su Li had previously mixed around the [Tiger] united with the power of the Raven and Lan Zhe, reacting in the blink of an eye. Cooperating seamlessly with the light elements’ effect, although the two elements had different effects, both succeeded in blinding Clemens.
The [Tiger]’s vision became strange—one eye could only see white, while the other could see no color at all.
Only darkness remained.
His movements were no longer agile, his ability to adapt was reduced, and attacks that should have been dodged could only be endured with his physical strength.
The giant [Tiger], the tiny humans.
They looked nothing like beings that could stand on the same level and fight each other.
But the special elemental powers narrowed the distance between them.
The possibility of killing was no longer just zero.
The mermaid thought to himself that trying every means to control the [Tiger] was much simpler than killing this guy who could merge with darkness.
Various colored elements lit up, and the attack gradually condensing in Su Li’s palm allowed Clemens to determine that this attack was unavoidable.
He would die——
Clemens’s face showed a smile that neither humans nor monsters could understand.
The power output increased more and more.
Compared to mobile elemental cannons made with the help of various precious metals, the current Su Li was basically equivalent to a humanoid nuclear weapon.
Everything happened in an instant.
BOOM——
That was a powerful elemental bombardment sufficient to light up the night sky and illuminate everyone.
The explosion sounded, and Clemens also showed an expression of calmly facing death.
Time seemed to slow down.
The [Tiger]’s figure gradually turned into fragments, bit by bit.
Collapsing, disintegrating, disappearing.
The [Spirit] didn’t appear?
No.
Su Li had already seen it—that semi-transparent light point formed by condensed light elements was desperately embracing the “core” left behind where the [Tiger]’s figure had disappeared.
But…
All of this was just a disguise.
The long battle had made Su Li’s voice noticeably hoarse. The young man who laughed out loud had contempt in his tone that he himself hadn’t noticed. “Nothing more than this kind of thing.”
“Without the world’s favor, what qualifications would it have to represent human consciousness?”
Su Li lowered his head. Wet hair naturally fell from his ear, and water drops struck the young man’s shoulder, creating a dark stain.
There was nothing wrong with greed; ambition was also upward motivation.
But how to turn everything bad toward good…
This had always been a subject that humans spent their entire lives studying.
Some mastered it, some were confused, some hadn’t yet touched upon it.
But at its root, something that wasn’t even human—what qualifications did it have to represent humanity?
A sound like shattering mirrors rang out.
Finally, the real world appeared before everyone’s eyes.
The [Tiger] was still there.
Clemens wasn’t so easily killed.
“A guy who merges with darkness—even when facing an unavoidable attack, choosing to merge with darkness to escape is something easily accomplished.” Clemens transformed into human form. Layer upon layer of dark elements quickly buried that light point.
Only that scream that went straight to the brain rang out: “You’re deceiving me! You liars!”
“This can’t be considered deception,” Clemens said softly. “It’s just part of the transaction.”
“I help Su Li capture you, and he lets me experience death—something that life can only possess once, no matter how the world changes.”
Clemens’s face carried a tenderness he himself hadn’t noticed.
That voice going straight to the brain appeared again: “Damn it, damn damn damn! If you want to die, why don’t you actively let me devour you! Why, why why! For hundreds of years, thousands of years, you’ve never given me any chance to kill you, but now you’re actually putting your death in the hands of humans!”
Anger, resentment, all kinds of negative emotions pressed down so heavily that people could barely breathe.
Clemens turned his head to look at Su Li standing beside him.
Not far away, the torch made from fire elements by Euphia illuminated Su Li’s figure with flickering light and shadow.
The young man’s platinum-blonde hair was dyed with the orange-red of flames, and his calm, unruffled expression gained a touch of warmth because of it.
After sensing the negative emotions, the slight tremor in his heart completely disappeared.
Clemens spoke in an even tone. “What else then? That’s death that all life can only experience once.”
“It’s so precious that I only have one chance to experience it.”
“Rather than leave what life experiences last to be decided by you, I’d rather choose for myself.”
Clemens said words that the [Spirit] couldn’t understand at all.
“Choosing Su Li to grant Su Li death is what Su Li most anticipates. But if Su Li died at your hands, even if Su Li’s body rotted and his soul perished, Su Li would probably be disgusted, wouldn’t he?”
The collective consciousness representing humanity was now this kind of thing.
Clemens couldn’t hide his contemptuous heart at all.
The [Spirit] was furious.
“You! Do you know what you’re saying! It’s all death—why are you so pretentiously distinguishing between high and low!”
“Is this hard to understand?” Egbert looked puzzled. “After all, the Beast King choosing to put the weapon that would kill him into Lord Su Li’s hands is simply for the simple reason that Lord Su Li is countless times better than you.”
“Rather than acting like you can’t understand, you might as well commit to playing dumb to the end.” Lan Zhe’s eyes contained annoyance, his tone particularly full of mockery. He slightly raised his eyelids and slowly said in a low voice…
“Ugly thing.”
Euphia sneered. She extended her well-defined fingers and forcefully poked at the sphere framed by dark elements, her tone disdainful, “Have a bit of self-awareness.”
“What qualifications do you have to be mentioned in the same breath as Su Li?”
